Well, if anyone is still following this, or also has an older model Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, I finally got the answer from Cooler Master Europe, after never hearing anything back in over a week from Cooler Master North America. My guess is if it's an older cooler, you will at least need an adapter kit or maybe get a different cooler. I needed to request Intel Gen 12 spacers from Corsair to mount it properly to the CPU. I am using a Corsair iCUE H115i Elite Capellix cooler which is Corsair's newest cooler. The board has holes so that a LGA1700 or LGA1200 cooler can be installed. I just updated my system to an ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4. I'm only out $5 if it's the wrong one, but the main issue is that it takes about 8 to 10 days to get it. I took a chance based on some videos I found, and ordered model 603005440-GP.īut if any readers here have mounted that particular CPU cooler on an LGA 1700 motherboard, I'd appreciate confirmation of which of the 4 mounts is the correct one. I emailed customer support yesterday but so far, no reply today. I do not see that model specifically listed. They have 4 different kits available but I can't positively determine which one works for the older version Hyper 212 EVO. Information is not very forthcoming on the CoolerMaster website. (Hyperthreading only on the performance cores? Jeepers.) I might be buying one, if i was in the market for an upgrade. I have zero experience with the new Alder Lake CPUs, especially their newfangled performance/efficient cores.

The old CM Hyper 212 may be a little weak if it's possible to run the CPU at full boost for extended periods. The I7-6700k is spec'd as needing 130W of cooling. The I7-12700k doesn't have a similar spec, but Intel gives a TDP of 125W, or 190W at full turbo boost. In addition, I have 6 fans in my cabinet and I'm moving a ton of air, so that should also help. Not sure how much more heat the newer processor may create. I've used it in for about 5 years in my current i7-6700K 4.0 GHz and it always runs cool. It's no problem if I need a stronger cooler, but if what I have is sufficient, I'd prefer to make use of it.Īlthough the capability is there, I do not plan to overclock the CPU, so I don't expect the cooler to struggle. I think it's enough because the max CFM rating is the same for both coolers. Is that enough cooler for a 12th gen CPU? It's only rated at 150W TDP, so it's not overly large. I hope CM gets back to you with the correct adapter part number, if it exists. They list adapters for the current 212 models, but they use a different mounting scheme than the Evo. It's not obvious from the Cooler Master web site, as you say.
